I’m in a difficult position because I’m currently unable to walk or stand for more than a few minutes at a time (or even less) due to a weird issue with flat feet and also I have carpel tunnel in my wrists. There might be work-arounds to the wrist-stuff with speech to text programs and the like, but the sitting thing is non-negotiable. I am trying to solve my problems related to disability, but in the meantime if I can find some source of income, that would be wonderful.

I often get asked, “What’s the difference between freelancing and contracting?” The short answer is this: As a freelancer you’re in charge of finding your own clients, finishing work, and getting your clients to pay. When you contract, the company you contract with finds clients and handles payments, you just claim available work and submit it on time.
How to Get It: Customer service is the biggest work-at-home field, with companies including Spiegel, Hilton, Best Western, HSN, 1-800-FLOWERS and many others using at-home reps. Fill out an application with staffing companies such as Arise, Alpine Access, VIPdesk, LiveOps, and Convergys, all of which vet the companies who are hiring through them. If you need benefits, search through a staffing company that will hire you as an employee (Alpine Access, VIPdesk and Convergys do this) rather than an independent contractor. If you're a contractor, you may be asked to pay a small fee (between $15 and $35) for a background check. While a fee can be a sign of a scam, independent contractors are responsible for their own expenses.

That’s not to say that blogging isn’t a real work-from-home option. I personally know dozens of people who make more than six figures a year from their blog, including my own family. In fact, I’d highly encourage you to start a blog if you feel inclined. Eventually, it can be a great source of residual income. Just don’t go into it thinking you’re going to make a ton of money right out of the gate.
Nice list. I would not recommend working for Transcribe Team. The work available with them is very sporadic. They say that they pay up to $0.65 per audio minute. I never made more than $0.50 an audio minute when I worked for them. They blocked me from logging into their site without even sending an email to let me know why. They did allow me to login again once I contacted them. I’ve read in different forums though from transcribers who were blocked from Transcribe Team from logging into the worker interface without giving a reason why.
Being an at-home call-center rep requires a computer and may require specific software or equipment. A great phone voice helps as well, as does any experience in customer service, data entry, retail sales, or management. Dozens of sites list job openings for call-center representatives, including Upwork.com, Freelancer.com, and SimplyHired.com.
